Web Depositions
BRING EVERYONE TOGETHER
— VIRTUALLY
Today’s workscape has people working together all around the globe. However, the need for real interaction and face-time is just as important.
With our technology, get everyone in the same room — virtually! Conduct a deposition or meeting and use our equipment to make it happen. What if there is only one person on the other end? The answer is as simple as using their laptop or iPad.
Bring everyone together and get the information you need, all while saving time and money!
WEB DEPOSITIONS VS WEB CONFERENCES
What’s the difference?
While they both accomplish the same goal, there remains a few differences between them and fortunately those differences have drastically decreased. You are able to conduct a web deposition anywhere that has a reliable internet connection; however, when conducting a video conference deposition, you need to go to a location with specialized equipment. With vast improvements in technology, the quality of remote, web-based depositions is no longer an issue. In fact, the number of web depositions is on the rise.
ARE THERE ANY ADVANTAGES TO VIDEO CONFERENCING?
Absolutely. While the cost may be higher, attributes like a dedicated internet line and a rare chance of frame and audio loss may be worth the additional expense. The below side-by-side provides a solid understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of both:
WEB DEPOSITIONS
- Usable anywhere with internet connection
- Lower cost: $125-525 per day
- Shared internet line
- Variable quality
- Chance for frames to drop and audio loss
– Audio is prioritized under video - A speakerphone is often used with the video feed
VIDEO CONFERENCE
- A specific location with equipment
- Higher cost: $175-325 per hour
- Dedicated internet line
- More static quality, mostly higher quality
- Very minor chance of frame and audio loss
- Video and audio through conference system
WHICH OF THE TWO DOES NDS CONDUCT MORE OFTEN?
We are currently hosting web depositions multiple times a week and are occasionally using mobile broadband cards. When doing so, we tend to be working from a deponent’s home, a hotel, a law firm, or one of our office locations. The flexibility of this deposition style allows us to conduct depositions quickly, easily and, more than anything, accessibly!
ARE WEB DEPOSITIONS REALLY AS EASY AS THEY SEEM?
Yes. A court reporter will bring a laptop or an iPad to capture the witness and stream it to remote locations. These depositions can be done with or without a videographer; however, for the sake of premium audio and video quality, we do recommend using one.
Regardless of your needs, we are experienced in both web depositions and video conference and are happy to help you determine the best format for your case.
